Why #KnowYourClit?
Research shows that girls and women experience more sexual problems than boys and men, and on average report less sexual pleasure. There is not just an orgasm gap, but also a pleasure gap. In addition, 1 in 10 (especially young) women always experience pain during penetrative sex; this is often because women are not yet fully aroused.

Knowledge about one's own body, sexual arousal, and what feels good is therefore important.
Yet, many young people and adults still do not know what the full clitoris looks like and how it works—including the internal part, which plays an important role in sexual arousal and pleasure.
And that is no surprise. Only since the 2020/2021 school year has the entire clitoris been described and depicted in Biologie voor jou by publisher Malmberg, one of the most widely used Dutch biology textbooks. So, we learn about male and female reproductive organs, while for years, a large part of one of those organs was missing.
Knowledge of the clitoris = knowledge about one's own body—and therefore important for sexual pleasure and well-being.
That is why there is #KnowYourClit: an infographic about the clitoris, created to learn, share, and use. Share it with schools, teachers, healthcare professionals, public health services (GGDs), and anyone who wants to know more about the clitoris.
